Peak HP and Torque come on at a relatively low RPM on the Mahindra. I think it's around 2400 RPM.

140HP and 236 lb-ft of torque at 2400 RPM

Consider that the peak torque and HP numbers for gas engines are at 4500-5000 RPM.

The Mahindra engine is putting out more HP and torque at 2400 RPM than any midsize truck V6, and even the baby V8s at 2400 RPM.

I personally think the Mahindra will do better with 5000lbs than most compact/midsize pickup trucks, midsize SUVs, etc... All are rated to tow 5000lbs.
