The southern states which don't have yearly emissions inspections may be able to do this. A 4cyl perkins diesel is about 60HP and less than 100ft lbs of torque. Plus $50 for a downloaded book, is he kidding? He has no publishing costs. I may buy the book for laughs at $10 but this guy can't be serious I would spend $50 for this information.

He would of seemed alot more believable in the video if he pulled a loaded trailer when he merged out on the highway. But then that would of shown how underpowered the truck of that size and weight really is with a 4 cylinder diesel.
The production costs of creating a downloadable manual can be expensive - especially if you are creating the content yourself and the "buying universe" is microcosmic! Just because it's not on paper does not mean it can be cheap.

That said, I heartily agree with your comments on the resulting vehicle. All you end up with is a truck with a Diesel engine. A lot of the increase in performance and load-carrying ability is wrapped up in the rest of the vehicle.

In the Suzuki Universe, folks stick VW Diesels in their Samurais/Sidekicks/Trackers with great offroad performance and moderate DD performance because the VW Diesel can run at nominally higher RPMs than your typical farm tractor Diesel.

There's no point in dropping a Diesel into a truck without properly prepping the rest of the drivetrain...

Sometimes "Different" is nothing more than "Cool"
