I don't have much feeling about Edmunds suggested date of Winter 2010. I am glad and impressed that they have something on thier site. I think they possibly just playing it safe. I also noticed when visiting thier site when you click on the list of dealers there were no results.
As far as thier communications with everyone........ let me say this. As americans if we know something is going to take place (something of this magnitude especially) as early as december but as late as April we tell everyone December to April. The Indians say April. Don't laugh too hard but they really seem to live by the "Under promise/Over deliver philosophy. I'm sure that is far from how most everyone out there probably feels but it is my belief. Example, the cross county tour now has over 20,000 people signed up to attend (mahindrana.com). This was originally thought to take place last summer but still hasnt happend (discouraging I realize - for all of us). That was originally something Gloval Vehicles (the american counterpart) was managing. Now..... Mahindra (India) has taken over the plans. Probably to make sure that earlier (hard to live up to, impossible to predict for us) dates arent given to let anyone down. I've been in the car business since 1988 and can only imagine all the hoops Mahindra/Global Vehicles has to jump throught to get this think off the ground. Just think of the last time you had to renew you tags. The license bureau probably sent you back home to get something you didnt have only to tell you another thing you needed when you returned. While every Manufacturer is a little different some things are similar. You might be surprised to know that we heard of the recent Toyota recalls on the News before we heard anything from Toyota & and we have a Toyota dealership! I think most people think no news and assume bad things. I think this (importing a new make to the states) is a very big journey with many stops and a few surprises along the way. When you mix that with the under promise/over deliver philosophy you get a little dead air....and probably will for another couple months.
