funky design
The weird looks come about because Mahindra didn't design the TR20 and TR40, they designed a SUV, then chopped it off and added a bed to create the TR20 and TR40 ala Dr. Frankenstein. They already made pickup trucks like the Maxximo and Gio for the Indian market, and the Scorpio SUV is a more luxurious vehicle aimed at more affluent customers. The pickup variant is almost like the Ford Explorer pickup version- it is an offshoot of a different type of vehicle. Since we like creature comforts with our trucks, we get that version of their vehicle. I understand that the model life ends with this one, and a redesigned vehicle is to follow. I wouldn't be surprised to see a TR20 and TR40 appear that was designed at the drawing table instead of the factory floor, so it may be much more pleasing to the eye (couldn't be worse, could it?). The information that I recall is that this is the year the new model was to come out, and the question was why introduce the model we are seeing at all? The question is whether this model will become a collectible or an embarrassment.
