Meet the Mahindra Trucks:
In a market dominated by the Detroit Three, an Indian automaker takes their chances and brings an alternative to the consumers. Mahindra & Mahindra introduces the TR20 and the TR40, no nonsense midsize pickup trucks powered by clean-burning diesel engines. Trucks with enough fuel efficiency for you to depend on for your daily commute, yet possess enough power to help you with occasional towing and hauling.

While the launch date of the Mahindra trucks has been rescheduled a few times now, a lot of people are still anticipating the release of these diesel trucks. The TR20, Mahindra’s single-cab pickup truck, along with its double-cab counterpart, the TR40 is expected in US showrooms in the spring of 2010.

THE MAHINDRA TR20

The Mahindra TR20 is a 2-door pickup truck that possesses the ruggedness you would expect from a towing and hauling machine, along with the reliability that the Mahindra brand is known for.

Sensible Features and Sporty Appeal
The Mahindra TR20 looks sleek and sporty, with the extra long bed and has tinted side windows, motorized adjustable headlamps and heated outside rear view mirror and center high mounted stop light. The Mahindra TR20 also has 245/75 R16 tires wrapped around 16x6.5J wheels. On the inside, you can opt for the standard gray fabric seats, deluxe beige or black fabric or the optional black leather seats. Get it in fiery black, arctic white, mist silver or passion red.

In addition, features such as an electrically-adjustable outside rear view mirror, body-colored rear view mirror, front grille and bumper and front and rear fog lights, as well as side foot rails and 16” alloy wheels can be availed for a small premium.

Solid Engineering and Impeccable Performance
The Mahindra TR20 will be sporting a 2.2-liter 4-cylinder Common Rail Diesel engine that produces up to 140 horsepower and 236 ft-lbs of torque. The new-generation clean diesel engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Largest Cargo Bed and Best in Class Payload
The Mahindra TR20 boasts of a 7.5-foot bed and up to 2,765 lbs payload capacity. That’s over twice the Toyota Tacoma can handle and more than what Ford, Chevy, Nissan and Dodge can offer in the same class. Mahindra’s single-cab offering can also tow up to 1.38 tons.

Practical and Eco-Friendly
Its clean-burning diesel engine emits less than 97% of sulfur emissions of traditional trucks and emits almost zero sooty particulates. Mahindra’s clean diesels also produce less than 30% of the greenhouse gases released by gas engines per mile.

Furthermore, because of the rising cost of fuel in the market, a huge concern among US consumers is the number of miles per gallon it can run for and the TR20 is just perfect because it can get approximately 30 miles per gallon on the highway. It’s also very low maintenance, which makes it perfect not just for truck-lovers, but also for those who have always wanted one, but held back because of its impracticality.

Superior Comfort and Entertaining Ride
You’ll be impressed with the Mahindra TR20’s standard comfort and convenience features. They include air conditioning with air filtration, HVAC with vents, tilt steering, AM/FM/CD/USB Audio System with 4 speakers, MP3/SD card and an iPod connector. The Mahindra TR20 also has power locks, an overhead console with map lights, driver and front passenger vanity mirrors and fabric seats standard. Moreover, it features an exterior temperature gauge, a trip computer with average MPG, a compass, front and rear 12-volt accessory outlets, an electric shift 4WD and an autohub lock. You can even get a towing attachment with electric connector if you want.

Exceptional Safety and Security
The Mahindra TR20 has 4-wheel disc brakes with 4-channel ABS, electronic stability control, traction control system and active rollover mitigation as standard safety features. It also features an advanced driver/passenger front airbags, 3-point seat belts on both two seats and side impact door beams, along with an energy-absorbing steering column and rear child safety door locks.

Hard to Beat Value
The Mahindra TR20's warranty is still not 100% decided, but at this time is a 4-year, 60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty in Mahindra’s more than 350 dealers nationwide.

THE MAHINDRA TR40

The Mahindra TR40 is a 4-door mid-sized truck that is set for launching on the spring of 2010. It’s the other half of Mahindra’s US offering this spring. It’s both rugged and practical with its best-in-class payload and flexible extended cab configuration.

Unparalleled Versatility
Extended cab pickup trucks like this one are very much in demand because of its versatility. It has second row seating, which allows for more room for passengers, but retains the bed for your hauling needs. The Mahindra TR40 offers a great combination of utility and comfort. It addresses all your work needs with its towing and hauling capabilities, but will accommodate a family of five inside the cab as well.

Practical Features and Great Style Combined
The Mahindra TR40 exhibits true masculinity pickup trucks are known for, but possesses elegance and practicality that will meet a lot of people’s needs. It has tinted side windows, motorized adjustable headlamps and heated outside rear view mirror and center high mounted stop light. The Mahindra TR40 also has 245/75 R16 tires wrapped around 16x6.5J wheels. On the inside, you can opt for the standard gray fabric seats, deluxe beige or black fabric or the optional black leather seats. Get it in fiery black, arctic white, mist silver or passion red. It is unclear what kind of floor mats will be available as of yet.

In addition, features such as an electrically-adjustable outside rear view mirror, body-colored rear view mirror, front grille and bumper and front and rear fog lights, as well as side foot rails and 16” alloy wheels can be availed for a small premium.

The Diesel Engine Advantage
The Mahindra TR40 will be sporting a 2.2-liter 4-cylinder Common Rail Diesel engine that produces up to 140 horsepower and 236 ft-lbs of torque. The new-generation clean diesel engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. This clean-burning engine emits less sulfur and sooty particulates than older trucks. It also emits less greenhouse gases than engines powered by gas. Also, you get the torque gains that diesel engines produce giving the best-in-class payload of up to 2,633 lbs. Finally, the TR40’s 2.2-liter Common Rail Diesel engine is also very low maintenance, especially important in today’s economy.

Enhanced Comfort and Top Quality Entertainment
You’ll be impressed with the Mahindra TR40’s standard comfort and convenience features. They include air conditioning with air filtration, HVAC with vents, tilt steering, AM/FM/CD/USB Audio System with 4 speakers, MP3/SD card and an iPod connector.
